I think you are suppose to have a nail on cleats with those shoes. Steven

The lovely Zeus shoes that have been making their way Cinderella-fashion

across the country have lately come to me, and fit perfectly (thanks, Fred)! So now I am thinking of putting cleats on them before my battered

old Rivats completely die. My question to the list is what kind of cleats would be appropriate? I have a set of old TAs I could nail on, but the shoes appear to have been drilled already for a single-bolt type

of cleat:

The middle spot on the bottom of the shoe leads to the cylinder seen on the inside of the shoe. This is made of some sort of hard plastic-like material, and does not appear to be threaded in any way.

I have a set of single bolt cleats I picked up somewhere along the way:

But I've never used them and am not familiar with how they are supposed to be mounted.

Are these in fact the type of cleat that the shoes were apparently drilled for? Is the unthreaded plastic insert in the bottom of the shoe supposed to be able to accept a bolt to hold a cleat in place? Somehow, it doesn't appear to be sturdy enough for this purpose; perhaps there is

some sort of insert that should be used?

Thanks; inquiring minds need to know...
