For whatever it's worth, when unblemished, the decal would have said "14th St." The shop was across from the Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village section of Manhattan. What's actually astonishing to me, is that there were 3 really good bike shops so close to one another, even allowing for the "compression" of lower Manhattan: Toga, Stuyvesant and 14th Street Cycles.
