There are actually 4 rides during Cirque weekend, all of which are vintage themed to one extent or another. Friday has Fixed Gear Friday at about 1300. This is probably the flattest ride so it's good for your rigid gear or that corncob freewheel racer. This is a somewhat smaller ride as folks are still arriving throughout Friday. Saturday at 0900 is the "main" vintage ride, 12-25 miles through lovely Greensboro prior to the seminars at the rec center starting at noon. You'll see more luscious bikes here than you can shake a stick at.

Sunday the scheduled ride is the "Tour de Guilford", starting at 0830, sponsored by the Greensboro Velo Club, and we attach ourselves to it. Still plenty of vintage iron, but many Cirque folks don't ride as they are getting set up for the swapmeet starting at 0830. So there usually is a "Dawn Patrol" ride among the vendors who do a brief 1-2 hours starting darn early (0630?) then hurrying over the the swap. The Dawn Patrol is an unofficial event, but highly regarded and more "vintage" than the Guilford ride. But you don't lose by doing the Guilford ride, as the routes are lovely and easy to follow. It rolls a bit, so lower gears are recommended. Most hotels will arrange a late checkout so you can ride, run back to your hotel for a shower and get back for the majority of the swap, especially if you do one of the shorter routes.

Hi all,

Didn't there used to be a vintage-only ride at the Cirque? I guess the closest thing now is the Saturday morning ride? Enquiring minds need to know.
