I applaud Sheldon's recent informative posts......this other drivel concerning proper language ("fixie") et al seems awfully elitist and narrowminded. Its bikes, not the US Tax Code.....

Orthographic improvisations such as "derailer" are equally deplorable. Intending no disrespect to Sheldon Brown, The Societe Brooklynnaise pour la Preservation du LL+U (SBPPLL+U, a shifty bunch by any standard) supports Ted unstintingly in this regard.

Could it be that a vocabulary consisting overwhelmingly of four or five generations of accumulated slang simply isn't suited to the Academie Francaise treatment?
