Don't think it is Brandt's book that's maligned, but some of his theories. Even If, as I recently mentioned, some people are skeptical of his theories, the book is extremely well written, with simple, step-by-step instructions, plenty of good illustrations. Since I sometimes build only a couple of pairs of wheels in a year, I always look over the book again to refresh my memory before starting. And although his spoking procedures are not the only or even necessarily the best way to do it, they are certainly sound enough.
