Subject: [CR]78 Guerciotti questions

Hello list,

It seems I've just acquired a scruffy ~'78 Guerciotti frame/fork/HS that seems to be identical in detail to the one on the CR site:

http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/Guerciotti/Guerc_T-Brown.htm

Besides the wonderful images of Tony Brown's machine, does anyone have any info or pics to share of similar machines? I can't find a serial number on the outside are there any? Brakes on it were post '78, does anyone know what year they would have changed anything? I'm trying to determine an accurate age range. Any comments about ride or desirability? How about the availability of decals? Lloyds doesn't list anything.

This one I've acquired would require extensive refinishing to be anything more than a beater. It's chrome fork and dropouts would need replating, and the frame suffers from a mild peppering of light rust just about everywhere. A small ding in the downtube and two extremely tiny dings on the top tube. In short it needs work.

This is a 59cm specimen, too large for me, but if consensus was that the frame was worthy, I'd push whomever I pass it on to, to do the right thing and make her a beauty again.

Thoughts appreciated,

David
