What has yet to be mentioned here (I think), is that unlike the DeRosa on E-B-A-Y (read: millions of people potentially reached), the Confente was advertised to and bid upon primarily by a very select group of CR minded individuals, most of which were not a good fit for the size, style, and price of the bicycle. Also, IIRC, the Confente has a bit of a mismatch of components, no? My suspicion is that with a little correction in that dept. (or even without), the Confente listed on Ebay, WOULD have fetched much more than it did, that wild and famous night in Greensboro. A very nice thing was done by the seller, indeed.

I just grabbed any post on the subject to respond to, so I'm not remarking about Harris' post below.

Seems obvious to me.The same thing that makes any "collector's item" worth more to one individual than another. You may insert anything in place of DeRosa, and the same will hold true. The same people always seem to never"get it",unless it is their"flavor".And it is merely someone else's preferred "flavor" of "ice cream",if you will.

Have a nice day,Harris Spracher
