I distinctly remember an article which appeared in Bicycling magazine in 1983, which compared helmets. I read and re-read the article and decided to buy the Skid Lid, based on what was written. I took about two rides, and the thing was heavy, hot and uncomfortable. I think the hairnet would have been just as effective in preventing injury, but looked a lot better and was much more comfortable. Now if they could only make a modern helmet in styrofoam that looks just like a hairnet.
