<>John Thompson wrote, refering to the Regina Titanio FW:

One of my co-workers at Trek had one on his Vitus, along with a Zeus freewheel (lighter than the Regina Ti). The whole bike (Jubilee derailleurs, Zeus 2000 crank and Ti BB and pedals, Stronglight headset, Hi-E wheels with Clement silk track tires, etc.) tipped the scales at a tad over 14 pounds, which was pretty good for early 80's technology.

IIRC, the chain cost ~$150 at the time.

++++++++++++++++ Come on, John, tell us the rest of the story. Surely this was built around the only set of Hi-E 24" pacer rims ever made, with 12/6 rear and 18 front spoking, and the frame was a 42 cm on which all tubes had been reamed after taking the bike apart? :-)

Beloved Spouse's little Orphan (50 cm, SuperVitus 979 steel) had similar drive train (but Stronglight 63 cranks, Suntour alloy FW, Regina hollow-pin chain), Hi-E light hubs with (260 gm?) SuperChampion Medaille d'Or rims, Jubilees (but with the lighter Simplex shift levers, and Mafac plastic brake levers), Ideale 2000 saddle, Unica Nitor post, etc. Even saved a few grams with a Teledyne Ti spindle. The bike was completely Campy-free. I never claimed weight below 18#, but my scales have never been very friendly. Your friend's bike sounds neat.
