Number 13 was not a lucky one for the rider Curtel during the 1929 Tour of Algiers. On the 13th stage he was declassified for interfering with local rider Menad, and the following day Curtel was forced to abandon when he was struck by an auto, his bike totally destroyed, and his legs badly injured. Here his bike is shown as it was carried to the finish on the front of his team car. From "Le Miroir des Sports" No.484, 28 May 1929.
