I need some help! I recently purchased, on Ebay UK, a Hobbs of Barbican Tandem (www.ebay.uk item #7160477382). The seller indicated it was for pickup only. I emailed asking if he would be willing to take it to a local bike shop and have them pack/ship it for me (at my cost, of course). He said fine. I won the auction, and have paid for the bike. He emailed me back today to tell me that the local shops are not willing to pack/ship the tandem.
He is in Gosport, near Portsmouth and Southampton.
I know it will not be cheap to pack/ship a tandem from the UK to the US, but I know it's been done before.
Can anyone out there help me? Perhaps there are some listers who live in the area and would be willing to charge me a reasonable fee to pack/ship it?
If not, can anyone suggest an alternative idea? Any international shipper will pick it up at his house, but I really need someone to pack it correctly (I'm thinking two boxes - one for the frame only, the other for wheels and components).
Here's the rub: the seller is going on vacation from June 13th to the beginning of August - if I can't make arrangments in the next week, it will need to wait two and a half months (which I'd rather not do).
So can anyone help me out?
