John,

Do you or does anyone know when these superleggera seat posts were made? I remember that I always tried to buy ones for my bikes at that time because they were nicer than the standard model. I can't remember when I got the first one.

I made a frame for my wife (then girlfriend) when I was at Ellis-Briggs and this bicycle got stolen in 1985. I got it back last fall. I just checked and it has this seatpost. It must have had quit a journey. The thief spra y painted the frame white except the head tube so it was still identifiable. It was bought at a garage sale 10 years ago and last fall the newer owner posted an inquiry about it on the web. I traded some other frame to get it back.

Another damaged superleggera seat post I keep in my shop is for checking seat tube sizes. It got stuck in a customers frame and he tried very forceful ways to get it out bringing it to me to remove. It's pretty bange d up but not beyond all hope. If someone really wanted one...

"Super" post with excellent citations. One question: What were the Campagnolo "superleggera" parts other than the obvious pedals sold under that name?

There was a Superleggera seat post before there was Super Record. Identifiable by its 30° chamfer machined at the top between the cylinder an d the head, along with a through hole drilled at the center of the cradle bosses. The cylinder was also machined with a slightly smoother surface overall. It also included thinner wall thickness throughout.

In two years of periodic looking on ebay found only one, now sitting on my work bench awaiting my decision on where to use it.
