Hello,

I have been reading the archives for the past few weeks and felt it was time to sign up and say "hi".

I am nearing mid-century and have not been around bikes for the last 15 years or so. I started out on my older brothers Louison Bobet in the late 60's and then it was a steady stream of Bianchi (...oh,the first time I saw celeste in a shop window...) Cinelli, Jackson's, Colnago and others.

Marriage, kids and a thriving business...and I am fat!! Better get on a bike! Where are my bikes? Oh, right. Marriage, kids blah, blah, blah.

I picked up a 1940's Ernie Clements from an estate (it came to Canada in 49) and it is sort of a time capsule as I don't think it has been used since coming over here.

It seems to be a clubman bike. It is equipped as follows: Brooks B17 Professional Narrow, Reynolds Hiduminium Maes bars, Brampton lugs and headset, Cyclo rear dropouts (stamped), BSA 1/2" pitch chainring and fluted, cottered cranks, Lyotard pedals and Brooks toe straps, Renold/the Coventry chain, Cyclo front hub (32 hole), Cyclo rear hub (40 hole) with Villiers fixed cog, and currently set-up with a 4 cog freewheel on the flop, running through a Simplex Route Leger derailleur hanging from an "ACE" clamp on hanger, Talon by Weinmann sidepulls, all rolling on 26" Dunlop steel rims, Dunlop Sport tires, Dunlop tubes with 'woods' valves, Halfords rim tape and Union spokes.

I have quite a few questions, but I'll leave it at that for now.

Thank You
