"There are plenty of bikes that are well loved by members of this list, despite having numerous faults. (The bikes, that is, no the list.)"

Certo! It a lot more gratifying to me to pass a bright yellow (god, that colour!!) Schwinn or beat up Peugeot UE-8 than some creaking candywrapper painted carbonfire Litespeed. Most of the classic "lightweights" on the road still are of the sort we here tend to sneer at but are still ridden and loved by their riders. Man are they shocked when you say "Cool bike" ! I like seeing the old warhorses out there. What one seldom sees are the nicely restored primo classics.. either no one collects them or, far w orse, they are deemed "too good" or valuable to actually ride. A Schwinn Super

Sport on the road is worth 20 Masis hanging on some wall. Anyone who reduces a classic lightweight to an "investment" to be dipped in aspic and

shoved in a safety deposit box should be forced to cycle behind 48 roller bladers for 5 hours. Assuming they even ride a bike, that is!
