This thing we do is a CALLING. I figure if people can be called to teach or preach, which is all about transmission of a culture, then what we do here qualifies.

Saturday I will ride my first organized metric century since last year's heart attack and bypass surgery. I will ride my 1962 Dawes with the Sturmey FW gearhub, just because it should be seen out there. I rode it on last Saturday's club ride and was amused and a little pleased - it attracted more questions from young riders than anything I've had out there. Several folks had never seen a mechanical cyclometer before; for that matter, there were a couple of guys who had never seen a Sturmey-Archer gearhub in use. This could be fun.
