My 1978 Schwinn Superior cost $231.95 new,
>From Ed's Cyclery in Allentown, PA. Ser. No. CJ812544

I baught it to take with me to a summer job in Switzerland in '79. Road it through the woods every day on my daily commute.

It was a bit on the heavy side but who cares on dirt roads. It weighed less than today's mtn. bikes.

It was a rock-solid road-hugger compared to the Gitane TdF I took on previous loaded tours.

And what's a few pounds with a full load on the back. It got me over the Alps and back again that summer. Had to carry a big load on that ride.

I sold it to my boss, to save the cost of shipping it back to the states. It handled so well and was such a good value that I was sure it would be on the market for a long time to come.

Imagine my disappointment when Ed told me that they went out-of-production and he couldn't find me a replacement.

If anybody sees one with a 22~23" frame, please let me know. I wanna hang in on my wall ;-).
