Firstly I wish to protest about some of the items which I consider was totaly unecessary by bringing bad language into certain points the writer wished to make. Not a very clever way to express a point of veiw and really lowers the tone of the subject.

Secondly , in my time I never came across a North/South divide where bikes were concerned only maybe occasional joke and nothing more serious than that. Everyone to their own part of the country purchasing from builders in their own area.Until the inception sponsorship of time trialists this is how it remained when the true amatuer went into oblivion. Also I believe this subject has been aired in full on previous listings!

Last but not least the comment ( please do'nt go the way of Jack Jones) the others mentioned not known to me . Jack Jones was a well known figure in the late 1940's and 1950's working for Harry Rench of Paris cycles then crossing over London to work for W.P.Newton . I have previously commented on this person's history . He was a well known time trialist and track rider for the Actonia Cycling Club and not forgotten by the present Newton family and friends are still trading in the Acton area of London .
