Doug, Glad you know about Jack Jones who was a very fine builder but my point was who knows him apart from you. Search the web look on the CR site. Zilch nichts not a mention of him at Rensh's or Newtons and how about the frames with his name on them. Thats why it makes you want to swear. Brilliant artisans now all but forgotten. Everyone knows about Jack Denny at Hetchins, blimey Max Clifford couldn't' have done a good as job than he did at self publicity! How about the really great builders who worked at Hetchin's. That guy Alex von T in the VCC has been harking on about Pat Skeats lately but he had no idea that Pat was at Hetchin's. No Norris Lockley built some damn (swearing again) fine frames which were classy and innovative and they deserve a listing. It is artisans like this who should be remembered. Finally it's not the shop name on the frame but the bleeding artisan who collared and grafted to make them who are really important. So lets sing the praise of the working class jacks who made them and get their names down for history sake. Farrells Wally Green. Early (pre 59) O'Briens Ephgraves. Newtons Jack Jones. Algurns Stuart Purves.
