OK, so we have established that Sports Tourers were available in both yellow and purpleĀ… :-)

By 1972 they had switched to a long-cage crane rear derailleur. I vaguely recall these things came with a 34-tooth granny gear! My dear dad (now pushing 90) has a time-capsule sports tourer in the schwinn baby blue color. He probably rode it a dozen times or less before hanging it upside down in his basement, where it has remained for the last 30+ years. Last time I visited him I noticed the tires had disolved into a gooey, slimey mess...

The official reason for the posting is to verify that TA cranks and the Campgranola Gran Trashmo were part of the ensemble for 1971, as documented by the official bike culture magazine of the era. harvey sachs mcLean va.

++++++++++++++++ Hello Harvey.

Here's a photo which I hope you will find amusing, and possibly even a little useful for verifying your recollections of the Sports Tourer:

I'm not a CR subscriber so I can't post to the list, but you may forward this if you feel it worthwhile and if the thread isn't too old. I'm always at least a week behind...

Kind regards, Mark Bulgier _______________________________________________
