Ugly things can happen on rims like this if you crash or start to crash. I have seen crashes where a front Medal de Or suddenly folded and broke into pieces as the rider crashed. The result was a broken collar bone and head impact as the rider was pitched downward. At least twice I remember seeing a rider getting loaded on a stretcher with the riders bike having a broken Medal de Or on the front wheel. .

These are time trial rims in my opinion. Even for light riders.

> As a big 170 pounder - and something of a climbing specialist, I found the Medaille d'Or rims fine, for a front wheel. NO probs ever, even when decending like a stone. The wheel I had built for my 76 Sachs in 1978 is still on the bike!
