Crazy thing is, I have Eddy's old sideburns right here--I wear them every day as part of the look I've cultivated. Okay, maybe I keep them a little flatter to the cheekbones. Anyway, the story is that Eddy would share these sideburns with the notorious bigshot drummer Buddy Rich, beginning around 1967 / '68. That's why you never see the two of them in the same place at the same time back in those years. They cut some kind of deal; apparently those sideburns weren't the easiest to get. Naturally, when the came up later on auction years later, I grabbed them for my own use. Quite a conversation piece. They look good onstage, too. Anyone else here ever used a bicycle to get to a gig as a working musician? You can carry a bass guitar in a bag over one shoulder or slung like a backpack--but upright bars help. What I really need is a bicycle rickshaw for those times I have to haul the bass amp, too. No place to keep one, unfortunately. You could just about use one as a bandstand for a jazz trio in Central Park. If needed, have someone pedal with the back tires off the ground to generate electricity--now there's a fight of fancy.

Sideburns were in vogue in the Edwardian era as well, I believe, but seem to have been shot off during the First World War. Elvis Presley (for one) revived them, and was known to ride a sixties tandem Huffy around the movie studio lot (probably with one of those bodyguard buddies of his, or sometimes Priscilla), but it was a single-speed balloon-tyred model (see 1970 film where they give it away, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS) so I shouldn't be mentioning it. Later piloted by a mime. Creedence Clearwater Revival put an on-topic lightweight together with sideburns on an album cover in 1969, but somehow the 'burns had turned into a full beard by the time the exposure was done! Some of you must know the COSMO'S FACTORY album cover....

Okay, that's about enough fun for one day. In other news, the Super Champion wheelset, the Kharkov bike, and the 3 ttt stem have been spoken for. The Rigida / Maillard wheelset is clincher (not tubular). I forgot to specify that. Thank you to all respondents!
