ISO is alive and well here in the States. As I said before any company of a global nature that wants to sell into the EU will pretty much have to comply with ISO standards.

I know, I certified my company and keep standards updated and undergo a yearly audit to assure that we keep our certification.

As for adoption of the ISO standard for the freewheel threading, that is no big deal. French, Italian or any thread can be ISO certified. All it takes is the process documented in procedure form, inspection by in independent auditor and certification if everything is up to snuff. I guess only the Brit threading bothered to undergo this level of certification.
