Please forgive the spellings. The first Cinelli I ever saw was at Newton's in Shepherds Bush probably 1959/60. Mars red (orange) and chrome. Cinelli steel bars and badged extension, Universal side pulls, Magistroni cottered chainset,Campag steel pedals, Campag gears, Campag hubs on Fiamme rims, Italian tubs I think? Orange D'Allesandro? Unica orange saddle and their strange seat post . Ever thing Italian except the frame triangle which was Reynolds. The forks and rear stays were Columbus. A hell of a lot of steel components. Regarding British you could still get an entirely made British machine in the early 1980's. Most lightweight shops still had Benelux parallelogram gears in stock and many other British made NOS components left. Reynolds frame Haden lugs, Benelux gears, Williams AB cotterless, Barelli pedals, Reynolds chain, Birmulux seat pin and pedals, Brooks saddle, Dunlop, John Bull or Michelin tyres or Dunlop or Constrictor tubs. GB bars and stem, GB brakes. There could be some doubt to the origin of some GB stuff but there were still plenty of British alternatives to cover these three items left in the shops back then. Plus there was the beautiful Royce stuff as well in hubs and chainsets. Yes it could have been done and it was by many CTC members.

Thats all for now. Keep those wheels spinning, in your memories if not still on the road. Be lucky Mick Butler Huntingdon UK.
