If you want to install an 8 speed Uniglide Hub on a 7 Uniglide Hub the
answer is no. 8 speed Uniglide cassettes and hubs were made only for
the 1989 model year.
It is possible to update 1996 and earlier Dura-Ace Uniglide freehubs
to accept 8 and 9 speed Hyperglide cassettes. More info can be found

the freehub body and borrow the required tool from Harris Cyclery.
I've performed the swap myself and it works just fine. In case you
were wondering, I did not find it necessary to change the axle.
