Subject: [CR]AW: Removing a freewheel from a bare hub

Hello,

there is an easy way to remove the freewheel: You have to lace the hub in a rim. Use 'Rödel' spokes, these are german spokes only with hooks at the end . You can build a wheel without putting the spoke through the spoke hole.

I have done this more than one time.

Does anyone have experience (positive experience, that is) in removing a freewheel from a hub that has been cut from a rim? Since this does not have the leverage of a complete wheel, is there a way of clamping (holding) the hub while removing the freewheel without damage to the hub? Bruce
