Apologies Mick, no offense intended. And that really is an interesting bit of info about the Roller riding cyclists. Sometimes we are at the mercy of the conventional histories, with their tales of healthy but peniless lads and lasses happily pedalling around the English landscape, then giving way to hefty lads and lasses roaring around the countryside in motors as post-war shortage turned into post-war prosperity. Most conventional histories paint with a wide brush and the truth is often much more interesting in the detail.

I think we still have some of those Cyclo cable tunnels in the frame fittings drawer; sometimes cycling fashion can be charted by the ammount of stock left over in a shop; those tunnels would have been victims of the switch to the under BB cable run.
