The lugs are not all that unusual. I've been working, on and off, on the restoration of an Olmo with identical lugs. I was told that it was a mid-50s bike, but of course this is apocryphal, so it could be inaccurate. Mine has Magistroni cranks, like the one on ebay, but a Campagnolo sport rear derailleur and the famous suicide shifter on the front. I've collected quite a few sets of pictures of similar bikes, mostly from ebay, some from other sources. Seems that this was the standard lug from Olmo for quite a few years. So, it seems that they were in use for quite some time. I think it's very cool. Now, if I could just get back to, and finish, that #@!*^!! project...!

\r?\n>flagged an Olmo with unusual lugs, one that stimulates both an observation and a question.

\r?\n>

\r?\n>Observation: I suspect that the bike is no later than the mid-1960. The lugs are similar to, but not identical to, the ones on my wife's '61 (?) Atala, and I sure didn't see much of this style much later. Like this Olmo, the Atala had chromed lugs.

\r?\n>

\r?\n>Question: That bike left us a couple of decades ago, but I had always thought that these rather massive lugs were (sand?) castings rather than sheet metal like the Nervex, Prugnat, etc. Surely someone has better insight than my fading memories and dim observations.

\r?\n>

\r?\n>Bonus conjecture: The RD seems to be a gran sport. By 63 or 64 at latest, pretty well supplanted by the ("steel") Record. Or, could be secondary line, also suggested by wing nuts on axles and lack of "D" rings on DT shifters.

\r?\n>Check out the lugs on this one! Bike looks mostly original.
