Steve Maas asked:

"what epithets do you use to describe a junky oldbike?"

In Brooklyn, I'll refer to one as a "trash-mo". Don't ask me exactly why, but that's the loving term for the bike that is left out in the elements yet ridden to the grocery store and around for small jaunts. I had a Fuji that went through a fire when new and in the box at the bike store. A lot of bad smoke damage. During the 30 second repaint, I ran out of yellow paint, so the rear triangle became orange as that was all that was in the workshop. Then their was the blue Myiata that I did find in the trash. Set up as a five speed with straight handlebars, I rode many times up to Coney Island for a hot dog and fries on her. She finally went to the bike shop on consignment and was sold to a messenger. I've scene him twice on the streets, once fixing a flat on her. Maybe, part of our Heaven in the hereafter will be St.Peter showing us the videos of our bikes before and after our stewardship! What stories they would have.
