well I cleaned up the bike I posted about the other day and built it up. I found two curious things about it as well. First was the choice of a schlitz malt liquour can as a shim for the steel seat post the bike came with. I think I probably would have gone with at least a guiness, it may not be english but at least it's from the right side of the pond.

The second thing was the measurement of the top tube. When I bought the bike I knew it was big but for the price I couldn't pass it up. Well, after I built it up I got on it and took it for a quick spin. Of course straddling it was a bit tight but when I was riding I was shocked at how comfortable I was, I was expecting to be stretched out a bit too much. When I got back to the garage I pulled out the tape measure and to my suprise the top tube was the same exact length as the one on my 1973 21 1/2 (seat tube) mink blue raleigh pro. That measurement being 21 5/8 inches center to center. Now the team colored pro is a 23 1/2 inch frame, so I was expecting the top tube to be a bit longer. Am I wrong? I've heard that raleigh top tubes do very a bit in length, even in the same year and the same model, but could some of you who have similar bikes in the same size please share the top tube measurement.

thanks
