When I started putting the Schwinn Lightweight Data Book together, it was going to be a book and I contacted Schwinn's coporate offices (whoever owned them at that time), was directed to their attorneys, corresponded back and forth a few times and then Schwinn went belly up again, so I left it at that. Recently the current Schwinn ownership contacted me to see if they could add a link to the SLDB in their Schwinn Heritage website section in a proposed Resources page, so I guess that is sort of a blessing (FWIW).
