Brett Horton's succinct and pointed summary of imaging specific to the vintage bike community was spot on. My days as a practicing librarian predated digital and the ease of dissemination that the internet affords, so most of the guidelines from the Copyright conventions in the late '70's are certainly insufficient. There have been several since and the American Library Association maintains references specific to both the pronouncements of law and their application; Peter Brueggeman who evidently is still in the trade may have a number of references that will certainly add to a dispassionate collation of legal analyses. In the end Kurt Sperry's advice is the clearest: "Part of life is the sensible management of risk. Do the math."
