Fellow Cycling Enthusiasts,

I have an idea that I would like to see what you all think.

How about putting a bicycle together consisting of what we believe to be the best frame and components (all different) and auctioning that off during one of the national events to the highest bidder; with proceeds going to a charity of our choice.

To pull this off, I think we have to set certain ground rules. First, I think we should select a panel of experts to help pick the "best" frame and parts, or to have members of this list vote for one of three final expert's selections. We should also set a rule to use each manufacturer's component only once (or perhaps twice). Needless to say, once the bicycle's specifications are set, we will have to request for the manufacturers and builders to donate those items, or alternatively, we can ask members of this list to donate the items to build the bike.

Just a concept at this point. We have to fill in the many missing pieces. What do you all think?
