Ken, I had an Avocet seat post on my LeJeune tandem in '78 or '79 so I'm sure using one on circa '77 frame would be appropriate. Actually, I think the rough finish of those seat posts makes them seem even more "vintage" than they really are. No doubt, though, one of them would look very nice with a little extra polishing.
