Kevin,

Nice bike! Man, what super condition for it's age. That "California Burgandy" is a color I created while building Wizards and was adopted by Masi California when I was the head painter there in mid '76 to some time in '77. I painted that bike myself, no one else knew how to do it at the time. Somewhat the same today. I just painted a CA Masi just like that one in that same color just yesterday. That color looks more awesome now than it did then. The owner of the bike will find that out this Saturday.

Keep that paint nice and oroginal, it's a somewhat rare piece. Imron is fantastic paint though, so don't be afraid to ride her; just take proper care and cleaning of it and it will last another 30 odd years.

Brian Baylis La Mesa, CA Love seeing older bikes I've built or painted. Just love it!

Just posted photos of my newly acquired 1975-76 Carlsbad Masi GC prior to the build. Now I can personally compare a Carlsbad to my 1984 San Marcos Rob Roberson built Masi, which is currently my favorite ride.

You may view the photos at the following address:

It is in quite nice condition, retaining its original "California Burgudy" paint --- several minor chips that I touched up.

Original owner's memory dates the frame to 1975, but the serial # puts it in line with others built in 1976.

Should have it built by early next week, and then photos will be added.

Many thanks to Nick & George for their help in obtaining period correct components!!!
