Malvern Star bikes often had such painted graphics. It looked much like that found in 19th Century American and English sign painting. This type of painting often appeared on utilitarian items such as buckets, barrels churns and occasionally furniture also in this country. Recently when myself, Peter Naiman and some others were corresponding about the Malvern 5 star that he bought, several folks send pics of paint jobs on them and several had such paint. As far as I know just about all pin striping was hand painted. I am not discussing that, but logo work like Chuck mentioned. Tom Sanders Lansing, Mi

Ken (and Tom before him in referring to Malvern Star):

Yes, but I think Chuck is referring to the name/logo on the main tubes, not pinstriping which is hand painted on many most bikes on which striping appears.. Whether using a brush or roller tool, it is still "by hand" rather than a decal or transfer.

We are looking for a maker who hand paints his company's name on the frame, in the "big places", like down tube, top tube, etc......
