The most interesting thing happened. I was contacted off-list by a member who 25 years ago or so,actually had a (rare) bike fall apart in the stripping tank (silver soldered), I am sure at the heavy hand of a commercial plater. List member donates/lends remains of said bike to fledgling frame builder ....Bob Townsend!! 25 years later I buy a used Proctor/Townsend, show it to Bob T. himself, mention that I might strip and re-plate the fork and get a gentle caution to "be careful, it might affect the siver solder." A lesson that obviously made an impression. I love this list!
