Subject: [CR]Rotraxes and Gillotts

Toanswer Jay's question about Taper Tube Rotraxes, no not made, not to my knowledge but then anything is possible. The belief that all Gillott Taper Tubes were big was dispelled recently by a 22.5'' frame coming to light.
I was looking over my Rotrax Shirley last night and am aware that the Shirley was the basic model. I havn't had a chance to study a Concours but would imagine the lugwork to be finer filed than the Shirley. Gillotts base model, the Continental is of a similar quality to the |Shirley but with refinements such as a curved sleeved brake bridge, longer more elegant top eyes and Gillotts own sleek front dropouts as opposed to the horrible Cyclo 'Tulip heads' on my Shirley. The frame numbering system is similar in that they both use the first 2 numbers of the year as a prefix then a sequential total figure.
