Richard Bulis posted some really nice pix yesterday, whether or not you're looking for this stuff. I'd like to call attention to picture 141 in the album. When it first appeared, hitting the US market maybe 1962, the Record front was a great advance on what we could get from Campy: far more elegant than the Huret parallelogram. But, Richard's picture points out two weaknesses of the design. The first was the clamp bolt for the cable. Great steel bolt that threads into soft aluminum. I've had to "fix" several that had stripped threads, generally by fabricating a 5 mm screw with virtually no head, which mounts on the body and secures the cable with a nut. Ah, steel on steel! I don't believe that Campy ever fixed this, which I consider a real design flaw.

They did fix the other big deal flaw. Richard shows the later upper pivot, where the thin black line at the outer end is a circlip. The early ones didn't have this, and with wear the arm would wear at the pivot and "walk" away from where it was supposed to be, often several mm. These worn units were no longer precision devices.

For all that, I still love these critters, and use them on everything from a Cinelli to a Hetchins, the latter with a wide TA triple. Imagine, two adjusting screws, right next to each other!

I'm not gonna list the stuff here like I usually do, because it is a long list and a few items are a bit Off Topic, so rule follower that I am, I won't risk the hand of the almighty upon my brow. So you can go look at the pictures at my Yahoo stash
