Is this a known occurrence? I brought my Masi to Cirque in 2004, started riding it in 2005, have ridden it perhaps a dozen times and of course enjoy it. The last time I rode it, after it rode in the hatchback with front wheel removed, I thought I felt something loosey-goosey, but just a tad maybe, found nothing with a quick inspection, and forgot about it. Ride being finished, bike rode back home in hatchback again. At home, attempting to replace the front wheel on my driveway, the q/r fell closed loosely. I shook my head, tightened the adjuster end, and it still fell closed incredibly loose. Turns out, one of the lock nuts is missing, so the spacing was reduced by that thickness, less the distance that the race had loosened. The wheel has not previously been taken off the bike since I began riding it ... just this time.

This is my assessment: It seems to me that the nut broke mostly, or perhaps all the way in half, when I clamped down the wheel BEFORE the ride. Capturing the broken nut gave resistance to the q/r, and the wheel locked in place. But, once ridden (remember the loosey-goosey thing) and removed again, the nut piece(s) fell away, and the q/r would work no more in it's current adjusted position.

Anyone had this happen before? Is there an easier explanation (no friends played a joke on me)?

Anyway, I need a Campy 1974 (outer) locknut for Record front hub please. Anybody have one or one very close to that date to spare? Much appreciated!
