Use rollys under fenders and don't sweat it!

I would purchase many pairs of the ROLLY POLYS if they did'nt have that goofy checkerboard tread design. I believe that they really detract from the esthetics of an otherwise well thought out-researched-money no object restoration. With that said... you wont notice the goofyness of the tread design when you're riding, and happen to glance down at the spinning front wheel.

Why can't Grant just make them in a file, diamond, mixed or bald tread??

I like the tread-pattern. I think it's kinda cool, actually. In any event, it is of little concern to me... and to the extent I consider it, it reminds me of the old Clement track tires, which had a similar very fine tread.

Aside from anything else, these things *look like proper tires!* from a foot away, which is a nice bonus, considering everything else they do so well.

Ignore the tread if you don't like it, and just buy 'em. And, as Dave points out, if you're going fast you can't see the tread pattern anyway. Which is the idea, right?

My two cents.
