Interesting to me how some folks have good evenn great buying experiences and others are quick to announce that the same seller is a scoundrel. I think Ken's comment bear a lot of wisdom:

"We all need to cut the sellers some slack, and they us.

What's worse: perfect sellers with no unusual bike parts (imagine Performance/Supergo/Nashbar uber alles), or lots of people willing to sell us all this nice old bike stuff, but accompanied by some human foibles?

Ken Freeman"

On the other hand, I think it's not a rant to report a bad experience. That's real and it doesn't mean the seller is a crook, but ought to be more attentive etc. in the selling process.

It looks to me that 99% of the time it's bad communication.. This means the seller not answering promptly or verbosely enough, but sometimes it also means the potential buyer should be reasonably careful not to ask a bunch of stupid questions. Well, I guess if the seller wants the buyer's money, he should answer all the stupid and not so stupid questions. As a professional seller of things (bike shop) I realize it can be trying "dealing with the public" but that is the requirement if you want their business! Ebay sellers are often not prepared to provide the "customer service" that business transactions require..

Anyway, let's all take Ken Freeman's advice and mellow out... But don't be afraid to talk about potential pitfalls "in the marketplace" just do it with a soft glove..

I can't say anything about the Sultan, other than I wish I had won a few more of his items. Wwcyclery, however, has been a reliable source for me. It's just a fellow and his wife working the business, and with such a small staff things can fall in the cracks.

The Sultan is a friend of mine and has not yet joined the list, depite my urgings. However, I can vouch for him. I will pass on the concerns expressed here and I am sure he will consider them. He's an okay guy.

He offered the Marinoni to me and I would have bought it if it was my size. It has been used. Not maintained the best during it's life, but not crashed either.

I cannot recommend doing business with e-bay seller wwcyclery/profitcycling. When I sent a question about an item for sale, he was condescending towards me in reply. I responded in as objective a manner as I could, and he then petulantly blocked me from further bidding on his items.

And a reminder.....next Saturday, the 17th is the Sonoma County Vintage ride. Be there or be square! E-mail me for details if interested.
