I worked in a shop in the early 70's that sold 'Corso' bikes, Stuyvesant Cycles own brand. The shop was a tire place that had decided to carry bikes and Stuyvesant in Manhattan supplied them with these, all alloy components, Italian and only $79.00. The bikes were pure crap with most bolts shearing off without the least twist possible to hold components on. Crap except for the wheels which were Campy Tipo hubs, Fiamme yellow label clincher 27" rims and these big fat (32 mm?) pink wired on Clement tires with deep straight tread, kinda like what you would see at K-Mart only pink. The bikes were totally forgettable, never saw any again after they switched to better bikes, Atala and Bridgestone/Kabuki. The cheap Atala's were only a couple of steps up from the Corso's.

Happy trails,

Dan Artley in Parkton, MD
