My feeling is that the seat being 8 degrees off level is probably of the least important things as far as selling goes. The seller showed just about every aspect of a bike that needs some going over ... and anyway the seat is removed for shipping, and will almost certainly require adjustment to the buyers preferences, regardless of how level it was when sold.

More to my confusion, is when potentially valuable parts, like a 1972 Nuovo Record rear derailleur for example, are being offered on auction, with layers of crusty grease and grime on them still, or only being shown in one somewhat blurry photo. I am yet even more (MUCH MORE) amazed however, at the fact that these parts usually seem to sell just as well or BETTER than those that have been cleaned and clearly photographed for the buyer to actually SEE what is being sold.

Is this some effect of buyers building up the condition of the parts in their minds, convincing themselves that they are clean and not beaten? Or perhaps, will many people gamble on a part being nice, before they will bid on a good clean part where condition is confirmed? This type of selling AND bidding behaviour is what confounds my little mind. My two cents...

An observation and a question: I have always wondered why ebay sellers do not take the thirty seconds necessary to remove dust/adjust seats or bars so the bikes like better? I do not intend to pick on this seller as theyre a good seller and respected in the cycling community...but come on guys, the seat on this cool Legano track bike looks like it is a prop for an Evel Knievel jump....30 seconds to move the saddle back on the rails and level it...please
