I am a newbie to CRs list but I have Never heard anything that Performance was selling Masi's under their brand name. I think this gentleman is a bit confused. I am not a expert but Masi USA has gone through some changes in its history. I believe under the Torelli umbrella most of the models were made in Italy by a company other then Masi(Alberto); only the Gran Crit, Volumetric and some track frames were US made by Ted and Joe during the mid 80s to mid 90s. I did see Nouva Strada, Gran Corsa, and Nouva Record lugged steel models offered in the Performance catalog in the last year or so but I assumed that Performance bought a warehouse or something and these frames were included. Masi Italy ( Alberto) did not supply any frames to the US under the Masi name in the period in question. There were some Prestige models imported into Canada that made it too the US and Alberto sells in the US under the Milano name. I think the gentleman saw the lugged steel Masi's in the Performance catalog and assumed that his Asian lugged frame was made in Europe. But that is only my take on the situation.
