I just put some OT Vredesteins on my Trek 600. 160 psi max. WOW. Totally different ride. Much more responsive, faster, better cornering. And I thought that 100 psi was as good as it got! (well, it is for the price) But if you want to spend the money to get some nice hard tires, it's well worth it!
