Subject: [CR]Stupid presta stem nuts

Only a few months ago I realized that those of us that use old fashioned box section rims (classic) need what is now called "special" tubes or short stem tubes, because the regular length is now very long for modern aero rims. Somewhere along the way some manufacturers stopped putting threading on the stems for whatever reason. I recently have been using these threadless stem tubes and even tried using no stem nut at all on threaded stems, because it now seems that they are somewhat unneeded. My problem with those stem nuts on threaded stems was that they loosened up frequently and ended up making a little rattling sound. Previously I tried a drop of threadlocker on one stem nut and miracle of miracles the nut didn't work its way loose even after many hundreds of miles or even thousands. A problem arose today where I was unable to take the nut off even after using several clever methods. I had to cut the stem off. Please no one try using threadlocker for stem nuts. It's a bad idea.
