Jeff, at my shop I use a tool called a "twist resist" which is a modified hozan fourth hand tool. First I lube the nipple at both ends with tri-flow and let soak for a few minutes, than I back off on the nipple while applying firm pressure to the spoke with the t/r tool just above the nipple. My favorite spoke wrench for this application is the yellow spokey. This method works most of the time. I usually replace the nipple with a new one. good luck, Robert St.Cyr ASUCD Bike Barn
