Bob,

I believe Oscar Egg started the Super Champion company in the 1930s, and of course they made the Osgear derailleurs. It seems that I read somewhere that Egg's Super Champion firm went out of business by or during the early 1950s, so I have no idea what type of connection exists w/the Super Champion rim company. Can anyone else chime in?

Now the question. What's the story behind "Oscar Egg" the company ? from a cursory glance at the CR archives I can find little other than Oscar Egg being Swiss, and the company being in Paris... and a few tentative enquiries, but what's the real deal and did anyone bottom it out ? Also, does anyone have any high-res images of Egg frames or a complete machine dating anytime between 1945 and 1959 ?

Just to tease the crowds - these images other_marques/egg/oscar_egg.html> came from a French book 'Le Cyclisme' by Jean Bobet dating from 1960. Sadly the images don't clean up well as the originals have more dots on them than a golf ball...
