Subject: [CR]FS: NOS 55cm Colnago Conic SLX frame and fork

Now that I am getting some of these beautiful NOS Colnago frames in, I am going to have to sell a few to make room in the garage and get some money back (but I am going to keep a couple for my own use). I wanted to list it first here to my fellow list members before it goes to eBay this weekend.

This is one of those rare opportunities to own a legendary hand-made Italian steel Colnago road frame that has never even been built up! The Colnago SLX Spiral Conic is no longer being made, and Colnago is currently no longer making any all-steel frames. A Colnago SLX Spiral Conic is difficult to find, even in used condition. This one is an even rarer find because it is new old stock, never ridden or built up.

This beautiful frame, circa 1988, measures 55cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the top tube, or 53.5cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of the top tube, with a 54cm top tube. The frame has a striking hot pink to mint green fade paint scheme with a fish net effect at the paint transitions. This frame was made in Italy of Columbus SLX Spiral Conic steel tubing designed especially for Colnago. The down tube is custom tapered for this Colnago Conic model. It is wider at the bottom for stiffness when sprinting or climbing, much like the philosophy behind the Serotta Colorado Concept tubing.

The frame has the Colnago ace of clubs pantographed into the top of the seat stays and bottom bracket shell, bottom chromed head tube lug, and brake bridge stay. The Colnago ace of clubs is cut out of the bottom of the bottom bracket shell, and the word COLNAGO is engraved into the bottom of the shell.

The chromed 1" threaded fork has the Colnago ace of clubs pantographed in the top of the fork crown and the word "COLNAGO" pantographed in the side of the fork crown. The head tube lugs, drive side chainstay, and rear dropouts are chromed also.

The rear spacing is 130mm, head tube length is 124mm, and the fork steerer is 1" threaded and 169mm tall. This frame has adjustable rear horizontal Campagnolo Campy dropouts (screws not included), braze-on front derailleur tab and down tube shifter bosses, derailleur cable guides under the bottom bracket shell, two sets of water bottle bosses, a pump peg, and the rear brake cable is routed inside the top tube.

There are no dings or dents.this bike is in wonderful condition. An Italian-threaded bottom bracket spins right in on both sides of the bottom bracket shell, and a nine-speed Shimano Ultegra wheel fits perfectly in the rear dropouts. There are a few very tiny marks from being in storage but you have to look for them to see them. The chrome on the right chain stay, head tube lugs, and fork is shiny and bright. The frame has been completely treated inside the tubes with Boeshield T-9 rust prevention spray.

This frame will turn heads wherever you go.it is stunningly beautiful! It also will provide you with a wonderful ride that you can only experience on a Colnago. Once you build this frame up and ride it, you will understand why Colnago has such a fiercely loyal following.

$600 for the frame and fork with professional packing (all tubes covered with pipe insulation, dropout protection, bike box) and insured shipping within the lower 48 states.

Several pictures available for the asking.
