I wish to extend a heartfelt attaboy to Chuck Schmidt. His tireless efforts in putting on the 5th consecutive Velo Rendezvous are much appreciated by us all. There is a great deal of work that goes into insuring these gathering of friends and their bikes goes off without any issues. I truly wished I could've attended the Fri and Sat night dinners; I along with many other VR attendess missed a couple of excellent dining experiences. The beach ride was a great addition (those of you who opted out of the climb to Palos Verdes' Malaga Cove missed out on some great scenery. The view of the Pacific was pretty good too ;-) As with the Cirque du Ciclisme, these events are much more than ogling a collection of some of the finest vintage bikes extant. It's the renewing of friendships with those special attendees who make the effort to travel to these events. I hope these special events can continue; we can't become complacent and assume that these events will go on year after year. Charles Andrews stepped up to the plate and led the beach ride on Thursday, conducted a well received presentation at Saturday's symposium, and helped judge the bikes at Sunday's show. Hopefully, next year's events will go on to be as good as the events of 2005. Thanks again Chuck.Well done.
